Softer rubber, long Velcro straps (almost too long), holds light very securely, surprisingly. I zip-tie mine to handlebars so i don't have to carry around. Holds my 14500 Cree very well. Soft rubber reduces vibration. well worth the $2.50. I'm ordering another for a different application.
